Upbeat, but not cornball, songs…

Encroaching on BridgeMaven territory here. Watched a nice Meryl Streep/Tommy Lee Jones movie on Prime last night, Hope Springs 2012, that closed with this great song. I think the 90s movie, Michael, with John Travolta, used this as exit music, too. A great, great piece of work in any setting, although I’ve heard that Morrison can be a bit of a jerk at times.

Just noticed Taj is playing near me in the spring. Hmm…

Do it. I think he and Buddy Guy are the same age. We’ve only seen Taj once but would go if he gets in driving distance. I bought my first Taj Mahal LP in 1968. His new CD with Keb 'Mo is excellent.

Does this cross the cornball line?

@mcarley - Speaking of Lyle Lovett, did you see him when he was a guest star on Blue Bloods playing a Texas Ranger?

I’ve seen him in concert twice, but I have not seen Blue Bloods at all. Didn’t know he had a cameo.

I thought he might be on this Doc Watson tribute album I just put in my list, but looks like not.

When Neil Diamond saw the movie Shrek he was so happy that the song that he wrote and sang so many years ago was used in this movie. So he started to sing it as he was leaving the movie theater. When he did he heard some young kids behind him say that they couldn’t believe that this old man knew the words to the song :grinning:

I never knew that as a Neal Diamond song.
I always associate it with The Monkees
