Pool

I thought I had an earlier thread on my pool install, but apparently not.

Finally pouring the concrete for the surrounding patio today.

Hopefully get to swim by this weekend.

Don’t know what kind of weather you normally have this time of the year. Water will probably be on the chilly side.

Living in Mass, used to close the pool around Labor Day or a week or so afterwards.

Here in NC, pool closing is usually the 1st or 2nd week in October.

We will really only get in it a couple of times this year just for fun before closing it.

It was supposed to be done beginning of September, I had to get on the contractor to get his shit together.

I am planning to have our final swim of the year in ours. Temp has dropped to 78 but current over 92 air temp. I need to close it and cover it before the falling leaves turns it into tea.

Do you use a heater in Oklahoma?

We are not installing one right now, planning on useing a solar blanket and maybe chemicals to keep it warm.

I don’t. The cost to heat a pool is very pricey. I have a coworker that was telling me about his pool heater and it was running $1,000+/mo. No thanks. If I could heat it some, I could extend a few weeks in the fall but the leaves is a huge battle right now.

If mine had blue water I would not be here because I ain’t doing that $**t.

It has green water, lily pads, frogs, lots of debris, and year old koi fish. Understand the frogs are nearing extinction here because the carp will eat the tadpoles. And it will be a bit quieter…

When the Pool gets closed down, open up the Hot tub. The colder the air temp, the better it is.

The best is when it is snowing and walk barefoot thru the snow to get to the Hot tub.

My old boss had a pool ( and a lot of land) but he had a system that circulated water underground to heat (and cool) his pool.

Be sure to wear your water wings.

I am pulling out my kayak

Must be a helluva pool.

No, I am just a dork

Welcome to the club.

If you don’t mind sharing. WHat was the aprox cost? I am thinking of adding one.

Under $90,000

We went with a fiberglass drop in, which was slighlty more expensive than a liner, but in the long run you will never have to replace the liner.

My entire house was around $120,000. Of course, that was 2001ish.

I made the comment to my wife that the pool costs more than our first house when we got married.

Is it a saltwater pool? My daughter had a saltwater pool when they lived in Florida and they loved it. However, when they moved from Florida to Atlanta the previous owner had installed a chlorine pool and my daughter’s family thought it was worth the expense of converting it to a saltwater pool

Yes

Our guy says most pools are saltwater nowadays.
