Ponzi scheme

Who is arguing that this isn’t true?

It would be if it wasn’t a law and not run by the federal government.

Its definitely a Ponzi scheme…I have been saying that for a long time. Even worse is that you are forced to participate…

If there was no forced participation of would have collapsed decades ago

Anyone with basic math skills would invest the 6.2% of their income in the stock market and retire with much more every month plus be able to leave the balance to anyone they want. A much better deal than social security.

They need higher income workers to pay for it.

I would rather see something else replace Social Security. I am not opposed to the idea as much as the execution of it all.

Employers match SS. So if they were forced to give that is you. That would be 12.4%

This is a proposal that I am a big fan of, but the swamp is NEVER going to let go of Social Security…

That has been tried numerous times and failed.

That is what they are doing. Each year they raise the maximum income. As such I have to pay more and more for less and less.

Of course…a Ponzi Scheme will always run out of money…

Got it, I misunderstood your statement.

Punish high achievers and reward those who didn’t plan for their retirement.

IT takes about 1k Per month. My last check was about 25K. After taxes and 401k I ended up with 12K. My 401k is 6%. How am I not paying my fair share when they are taking about 1/2 my money?

Fair share appears to be a moving target. Make more and your fair share rises, make less and it decreases. My feeling is that any income tax system that taxes people at different rates has no fair share for anyone. A true fair share would be that everyone pays the same percentage rate and there are no deductions or credits.

The left would never go for that. They always want someone else to pay more.

I don’t pay much for benefits. I do 6% for 401k since they maxes it out.

Still I end up with less then half my pay by the time it’s all paid.

As does “living wage”

I know, and they whine when it seems that those financing the government want to have a say in how that funding is being used.

Living wage is a little more clear but yes, it is vague in that everyone considers living something different.

Fair share means tax the shit out of everyone but me.
