Home printers suck

Does anyone have a printer that they like that has lasted more than a year or two?

I am fed up with companies churning out garbage.

Got a Canon TR4720 a few months back. Prints great (unlike the Epson before it), but now it is not receiving commands from our phones.

Last one was a Brother bc it was supposed to be lowest cost per page. But it constantly lost connection to Wi-Fi.

Went back to hp and doing ok, maybe three years. But I don’t print a huge amount at home.

Thanks, good to know. I haven’t owned HP in about 10 years. Sounds like it might be time to try it again.

Current printer is an HP 8725. I’ve had it for 7-8 years. The prior one was also an HP and lasted 6-7 years. The current one has printed who knows how many thousands of pages.

I have a Brother 8360CDW color laser printer that I’ve used for 7 or 8 years with no problems other than an occasional driver update which is pretty simple to do.

The problem I’ve had with cheap inkjet printers is that they are notoriously slow and unreliable and gobble up too much ink. To get consistent quality and reliability in a color inkjet you have to spend as much money as an office color laser printer and the ink gets real expensive.

You should be able to buy a good color laser printer for $300. Third-party toner is cheap compared to ink.

I did find a thread from four years ago and saw that you’d had your HP for years already. Glad to hear it’s held up since then.

Had 2 cheap HP printers for home use. Junk. Bought a Brother a couple of years ago, no issues so far. Very light usage, same as HP.

Cant remember the brand we have, but has worked fine for several years. My daughter is still using it for college.

Goes through ink like nobodies business though, and the ink is not cheap.

I have bought the HP ink on ebay for years, always new, branded and not refilled. It is always cheaper than Amazon or Costco.

I have not had a home printer in over 12 years. I rarely needed one.

Which is more expensive by volume, printer ink or Starbucks peppermint syrup?

Same situation with me. I may need something printed every 3 or 4 years.

My daughter works at a Starbucks in Target, I will see if she can get a price on that.

Over ten years ago I got tired of junk inkjet printers.

I bought a Canon office laser 3 into 1 printer that I still use to this day. It absolutely always works. Yes, it is quite large and heavy but I haven’t moved it since I got it.

The Canon toner cartridges aren’t cheap but I found a good aftermarket supplier on Amazon. And they last forever (and Lasers don’t clog!). I think I’m only on my 3rd set of cartridges in over 10 years.

I remember the super junk brand “Lexmark”. They were so bad they aren’t anywhere to be seen anymore. I bought one that went through it’s “starter” ink cartridges in a week. Bought brand new ones and the printer just stopped working, it wouldn’t accept it’s own brand name cartridges!

Price for consumer, not for Starbucks. It probably costs like 50 cents a bottle for them.

She gets one drink per shift, it is almost always one of their refreshers.

She absolutely hates when someone asks for matcha in their drink.

I’m so plain I drink my coffee black. If I’m craving something sweet, I add some canned cream and sugar. I’m surprised no one has complained they want to order Starbucks in English.

Epson ET-2720 It copies, scans and wireless prints. Uses tank ink so fill it once and lasts forever

I had one similar to this and it printed absolute garbage for quality, with horizontal lines. Does yours not do this?

Got a brother color laser Printer/FAX/ scanner. It has worked well for 5 years. Cartridges are not cheap, but last a long time.

Thinking about one for the house, or a refillable ink-jet 3-in-1 Epson. Heard the refillable inkjets are the cheapest cost per page, but would like to know others’ opinions. I want to be able to print photos.
