Hearing aids

Getting older, doc says I need hearing aids. I’ve been tested and have the prescription. ENT office (which will soon be closing) says three options. I could get hearing aids from them, cost about $4K. Get them from Costco, which would likely require a different test, cost might be $2K. Or, just buy ones on Amazon, cost about $1K.

I left the office thinking I’d just buy the Amazon ones, but decided to wait a bit. My Flexible Spending Account changes over in October, so I could put more $ into it when I make those decisions with my employer rep this summer. Waiting might not be the best choice, hearing wise, IDK.

Lately, I’m wondering more if I should consider the Costco option more.

Anyone have experience with these?

What?

For real though, my father in law has had hearing aids for several years.
His best experience is with Costco.

Several months ago , my wife got hearing aids. I just wish she would always use them. Fortunately, my SIL is an audiologist. My wife got her hearing tested at Costco and send the results to her sister. She assessed my wife’s needs and ordered a pair for her.

What you get depends on what you need for your hearing, because they are not all the same. The ones sold at Costco are basically pure sound amplifiers. Some people have difficulties with the amplifier type in restaurants, large meetings and the like. Haven’t looked at the ones on Amazon. My wife got Signia, which are supposed to amplify the levels that are a problem and function better in crowd conditions. I think they retail for about $3-4K. We got the doctor’s discount.

Costco would be better option.Amazon sells from shady shit from time to time and this is your hearing

Ya, when I got LASIK surgery I didn’t go to the top guy, but I also didn’t do the cheapest.
I found a reasonably priced Dr with great reviews.

I’d trust Costco. Not sure id trust Amazon.

save money try this first Apple AirPods Pro 2 Hearing Aids: Our Editor-In-Chief’s Thoughts

Interesting.

I have an android phone though

It would be annoying to constant recharge them and they fall out fairly easy

may be time to switch

at night while you sleep

they seem popular and I see lots of people wearing them

You have to charge them every 4-6 hours.

So? each pair is 249 so 500 for 2 pairs vs $4K

I’m getting them when my hearing ever gets that bad

With insurance my hearing aid would be 100 dollars.

great not everyone has your insurance. but you miss the point of the apple product, they don’t look like hearing aids so people will wear them

I have excellent insurance. Hearing aids still fall outside it.

You can try the pro. I just find them prone to fall out of the ear. I won’t even use them to work because they fall out so easily. My gf has the same issue.
