One thing I will say, and I only really know this about the KC area. There was no major influx of taxpayer money, so IMO, the World Cup has been a huge success to date.
Well…it did cause a bit of infrastructure upgrades, which might never have been done without it. Upgrades to the Crossroads district come to mind.
Also, the English team is based a couple of miles from where I live. There are two Prairie village police vehicles and officers there every time you go through, and security is extremely high. I am wondering, did FIFA or the English pay for off duty officers to do this or is the city providing this protection. And have you seen the caravans when those teams are on the move? One of my buddies took this the other day in Overland Park - heading to 435
