Why I rarely go to the movies anymore

We went out with another couple for dinner last night and saw Disclosure Day. Dinner and drinks after the movie was a lot of fun, the movie, meh. I think it was trying to be a blockbuster summer hit like Spielberg has done in the past, but failed. The first half of the movie wasn’t too bad, some decent action scenes and Emily Blunt played her part well, but it wasn’t very good. I’m just glad my wife had some Fandango gift cards that we used and it cost me nothing. Also we sat through almost half an hour of previews and I didn’t see anything I really need to see in the near future.

I took my grandson to see Toy Story 5 last week. The showtime was 12:15. We left the house at 12:15, drove to the theater, bought tickets and got bent over at the concession stand, and still got seated before the movie started.

I thought it was ok. Just ok. I felt like it didn’t realize wrap up well. It was more like let’s try to win an award or sell lots of tickets rather then entertain

I agree, it stared out okay then went off the rails and didn’t recover. My wife’s friend picked the movie, I had no idea what it was about before seeing it.

I do this on purpose. Absolutely will not tolerate half an hour of ad slop.

Recently we moved and our new local theater starts the picture 10 minutes after start time, so we have had to adjust our routine.

I enjoyed Toy Story 5. Thought it was a good time and modern subject matter handled well.

I liked Disclosure Day, though I’ve been disappointed with movies for a couple of years now.

It wasn’t terrible, I did like the first about 2/3’s of it. It had a lot going on that wasn’t explained very well.

I agree, I can’t remember a movie in the last few years that I told myself I need to see. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m getting older or because the movies suck more today.
