For the second week in a row, the Chargers won despite a bone-headed decision by their coach to go for it on fourth down in their own territory, which failed both times:
At least Staley won. Matt Eberflus gave up a very makeable field-goal try to go for it. Of course the Bears didn’t make it, and they lost.
Still, in the big picture. the Chargers should can Staley while the Bears should hold onto Eberflus for the rest of the season. The Chargers have a lot of talent and should be a playoff contender, but they can’t afford any more bone-headed decisions. The Bears, on the other hand are on-track for the number one pick next year, and they shouldn’t do anything to jeopardize that.
