I don’t watch the news…except for CNBC for financial news. However, you are wrong if you don’t think illegal immigration is causing a problem. I do live in a small beach town now where a stolen bike makes the local paper.
That all depends on your definition. The facilities housing those entering the country and seeking asylum are hopelessly overcrowded and are causing the transport of asylum seekers all over the country. ICE is insufficiently staffed to handle the volume of those attempting to enter the country illegally and the courts have blocked states’ attempts to control them. Based on reports, the numbers include formerly deported criminals and a surprising number of Asians and Arabs. Ranchers along the border have had gun battles with those coming across illegally.
The media rarely covers border issues, so far too many people have little idea about what is happening there. We have friends who collect mostly clothing and toiletries and make monthly trips to the border to deliver them to detention facilities, so we get regular updates.
