I have a friend with a page because of one thing she did years ago. GF’s dad has a pretty substantial page because he was in lots of stuff, a Twilight Zone episode, a bunch of some other sitcom, Rebel Without a Cause, etc. His sister was an original Mouseketeer and still makes $ from signings and such.
I know a few people in the local acting scene that are listed.
My wife was watching a movie a few months ago, nothing major, and I thought I recognized the lead actor, so I usually think I have seen him in another movie or something.
I looked him up and he is from the KC area and we are 1 degree of FB separation, which I told my wife proves that I am cooler than she is.
We watched 9 to 5 a few months ago and learned that our local weather guy had a role in it. I didn’t even know he was an actor.
GF lives in the LA area part of the time, and saw Angelyne in her pink corvette the other day.
So we have a collection of people that continuously talks down to a segment of the population, and now they want us to care that they aren’t paid enough? I couldn’t give a flying fuck about the Hollywood ass clowns. Last movie I saw in a theatre is Air Force One and other than sports, don’t really watch much TV…
My 80’s crush has a take on this.
Fron the article…
Meanwhile, studios and streamers’ CEO compensations are the highest in history: Last year, Warner Bros. Discovery chief David Zaslav made $246.6 million; Disney’s Bob Iger made $45.9 million; and Paramount Global CEO’s Bob Bakish made $32 million. These individuals make more money per year than almost any entertainment executive before them. Just a small portion of each major CEO’s annual salary could cover the cost of the guilds’ reasonable structural and financial demands, and yet, they say it’s not possible.
Tom Cruise made $100 million for Maverick. Cruise made more than the 2nd and third highest paid CEO’s put together last year for one movie. Actors seem to be doing okay.
This isn’t about actors like Cruise.
There were 7 writers and almost 100 actors listed by IMDB for Maverick.
Maybe the union should set up pay sharing for movies, TV shows and other projects. Instead of one actor making $100 million that pay is split more equitably among all the actors and writers on a project.
Ummmm….that is kind of what they are trying to do.
If I remember right it is called equity minimum, but I could be mistaken.
There are some people who constantly complain about the fact that some people in a corporation earn ridiculously high salaries while the average person in a company earns significantly less. However, I don’t see any complaints about the fact that some actors earn a fortune while the average actor earns much less.
Does anyone who feels that top corporate executives earn too much money feel that same way about top actors who earn a fortune.
Good point, and to be honest, part of the settlement will probably rely on this.
…or pro athletes ??
