Someone needs to hear those two beautiful words: “You’re FIRED!”
For years, Informed Delivery has daily notified subscribers of what is in their mail.
While not always accurate, the service was not bad. It would appear in email, typically around 8 AM. Well that is no more! As of July, it has been 2:45 to 3:15 PM!
WTF good is that? I have long used it to decide whether to go to post office. Working swing shift until recently, it was not reasonable to go after 3 PM. Now the service sux.
No doubt post master general will blame it on the President.
USPS is obsolete altogether. We have UPS & FedEx to deliver hard items, and we’d likely have more competitors if the federal government wasn’t crowding out the space.
As for letters, cards, etc… All information can now be delivered electronically.
All USPS is really doing is enabling Wall St financial scams (predatory junk mail) and enabling municipal utility companies to resist technological evolution (paper bills vs email/browser bills).
My sister in law had a certified letter go missing, a check for $20,000. The letter carrier marked he left it with a person at her address, but didn’t even go to the door and video proved that. The post office didn’t care and the police said it happens all the time and are investigating. The police said a lot of the missing mail is an inside job involving USPO employees.
I also use BillPay through our bank, but if the vendor is not in the bank’s system then the bank mails a check. There are many small vendors here that do not bank with our bank.
We make our charitable contributions using QCDs (qualified charitable distributions) directly from our IRAs. Current law requires that QCDs be made by check.
I occasionally use ebay to sell things we no longer want. These are not large or very expensive items, and they are always sent USPS. Never had an item lost. If USPS wasn’t available that type of sale, and likely ebay and other similar online sales, would go away because FedEx or UPS are prohibitively expensive for those types of items. Same is true for those types of items sent personally.
I live in a state where broadband internet, and cell service, is available to about 85% of the population. I have broadband cable internet but am unreliable cell signal at our house. There were reports during covid and schools were closed that some students drove more than an hour to get a cell signal so they take online classes. Those folks live a long way for package deliveries and I suspect costs were jump without the post office’s RFD. I suspect you can find similar examples in a dozen other states.
Maybe they are picking on us because we are solid red? They were sending even on Sunday when there is nothing. Only two this week and nothing yesterday.
Hoping for mail that is a QCD check. I always have those sent to me so I can make a photocopy in case the gestapo should inquire. No idea how one would get brokerage to cough up a copy of a check.
