I was surprised recently to learn that Bruce Hornsby and Ricky Skaggs had done an album together. Another surprise was to see them cover Rick James on it.
If we are taking votes - my vote goes to Rick James version
Given Skaggs’ religious and political convictions, I was surprised they even did the cover.
Hornsby has performed at the Opry a number of times. I though the song was entertaining, but I wouldn’t want to hear very often. I have a CD entitled Pickin on The Allman Brothers, the band’s music in bluegrass. Also entertaining, but infrequently listened to.
Dolly did a bluegrass version of Stairway to Heaven some years ago.
For some reason, that reminds me of Margo Price’s cover of WAP, but I can’t find a link to that.
