Two pairs of boots

Nice story but total bullshit.

Save 4 bucks a month for a year and buy the better boots.
Or 2 bucks a month for two years, since the story states that the cheap boots last for a couple of years.

I agree, getting “rich” usually doesn’t happen overnight, it’s a lot of little things over time.

I always felt the boot story was a little stupid.

I will say a better analogy is a car.

My cousin used to buy a junk car and then drive the shit out of it. She was a nurse who drove to patient’s homes. The car would break, need hundreds or thousands of dollars in repair and she would miss work.

I told her to buy a new car but she said she couldn’t afford it. She ended up buying one and it saved her thousands of dollars. No more repairs. She was able to deduct more since she used it for work. If it did break they gave her a loaner

It was the weird cheap mindset that held her back

Driving clunkers can be ok if you are handy enough to fix most of the shit yourself.
But if you rely on garages for repairs they are not financially viable.

A coworker buys a 10 year old Lexus every 5 or six years for cash and does most of the work on them himself. He also puts $1,500 a month into his 401K. Priorities.
