Trump calls for one-year cap on credit card interest rates at 10%

No he’s not a moron, he’s a socialist of average to above-average intelligence.

I don’t approve of his politics because I am a Conservative.

You are not a conservative.

You just proved it by your illogical statement. Bernie isn’t an idiot but Trump is for repeating Bernie’s law.

You are pretending that Trump hasn’t proved he’s a moron a thousand times over in the last ten years.

I guess pretending is a useful strategy for you Trump supporters.

I mean, he’s been more logical than you have. So there is that.

Did you pay any attention to his opponents?

Yes dodo bird thanks

What type of convert are you? You converted towards or away from conservatism. I converted from a far left liberal to a conservative over 25 years or so. We had a few Lincoln Project on here

I have had and stil have some conservative views. But MAGA isn’t conservative. They are more radical.

I am not a convert, I’m a life-long Conservative.

1964 was the first year I was eligible to vote in a National election and I campaigned and voted for Barry Goldwater.

Until Donald Trump came along and co-opted the Republican Party, I had always voted for Republicans in national elections. I’m not a participant in the Lincoln Project, but I am sympathetic to their cause and occasionally support their efforts to bring the country back around to a sensible political direction.

If I had to pick a public figure who most closely matches my political stance it would be George Will.

Agreed. They’re far too populist left or right for my taste

Very cool. I was an idiot and voted for Kerry in my first election and would have voted for Gore in 2000. Then McCain then Romney then Trump, Trump, and Trump but I really wish the GOP had better talent. Rubio is better. But I’d be interested in having the Democrats to the first female POTUS - just can’t stand Haley and Noem gives me Palin vibes like she won’t win

I’d love to see a Klobachur vs Stefanik or Klobachur vs Gabbard

I’d also like George Will - seems like a decent dude - don’t need a prolife candidate when both parties are spending like drunken sailors

My favorite presidents actually were T Roosevelt and Calvin Coolidge

Too bad they kneecapped the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau. Could have used them to implement this. (Tongue in cheek)

I’m all in favor of a cap, most states used to have them. But 10% would be a huge disruption to the market. Someone will talk him out of this one.

What’s with the one year limit? If it’s a good idea, it’s a good idea after the midterms too, right?

I see, but if you use your debit card online, you open another avenue to your bank account being hacked.

The problem with George Will is that he communicates using so much overly complex language that many people tune him out as a pompous elitist trying to impress the listener with his extensive vocabulary. If he wrote in more of a average man-on-the-street manner his ideas would connect with more of the population.

I have a different take. I think George Will has lost his fastball over the years, so to speak. Going on memory, many years ago he used to have a gift of succinctly making a point in such as obvious way that it hit you right in the face and made perfect sense. As one example, I remember him writing about a proposed high-speed train between Tampa and Orlando. He noted that supporters of that train must think that Tampa residents who want to go to Disney World would, instead of driving the roughly ninety miles in their own cars, would instead park at the train station, take the train to Orlando, and then rent a car there to get to Disney World.

However, his columns no longer have the zing that they used to. Again, going on memory, I remember one column which he wrote about asset forfeiture laws and a case making its way through the courts. He made a comment that he obviously thought was a zinger that made his point, since he immediately moved on without expanding on it. I did not get the point he was trying to make, and I am sure many others did not either.

Will still has a column? Isn’t he like 167 years old?

He’s 84.

I think George Will hit the nail on the head when in 2012 he tagged Donald Trump as a “Bloviating Ignoramus.”

I suffered through Sara Palin as mayor of Wasilla and as governor of AK. I had to vote against her, she is a lame-brained populist.

I suspect he is hoping the companies would play along for a year without fighting it.
