Any electronic device made in China should be banned.
My Netgear router was made in China, 12 years ago. A quick search shows Asus, D-Link and Synology are manufactured in Taiwan and Ericsson, Sierra and Cisco appear to be made in the USA (all likely contain Chinese components). TP-Link and Netgear generally get the best ratings.
That’s interesting, bc I’ve used both in the past and found them to be complete garbage.
Linksys was a huge improvement and Eero has been truly awesome.
Maybe I was buying the cheapo crap without realizing it.
Normally I use Asus for a router, and not usually very new or terribly powerful. Choice is because of my requirement to replace OEM firmware with open source firmware, and I normally use Fresh Tomato.
I do have a TP-link cable modem, and I recently got a TP-link “Mesh wifi extender” that hails from Vietnam. I find the extender to be not worth the power to run it.
