I worked at the Neiman Marcus store downtown right out of high school. There was no other store like it. Stanley Marcus was an icon in Dallas and a most amazing man. I was just a teenager but I worked in electronics and Mr Stanley was fascinated with electronics. He would sometimes stop in an visit with us on a slow Saturday (downtown Dallas was pretty slow on weekends back then). I was blown away a couple of years after I left there - I would still Christmas shop at the NM downtown store and I was coming out of the parking garage across the street and headed to the light at the crosswalk. Mr Stanley was waiting and he turned, smiled and said “Hello Joe, how have you been”. I was shocked that he remembered a lowly teenager after being gone a couple of years. It was a unique store which had some outrageously expensive things, but it was a great place to work and to people watch. It was sometimes like standing on the red carpet at an awards show with the number of celebrities who would come thru. The Northpark Store will never come close to being what the downtown NM was

I loved Neiman Marcus. I frequently went to the one In Chicago when my daughter lived there and the one in Boca Raton FL when we went to see family and friends who lived in that area. In addition to having beautiful clothes their restaurant had the best popovers
I am getting ads for them on FB.
I clicked one and almost had a heart attack at the price of shirts.
