The Most Anticipated Recession In U.S. History

Thanks for posting this. I would have thought that the biggest post WW2 fear was inflation, as WW2 was filled with price controls.

The thing that saved us from recession was Americans had to do without all sorts of new things like cars all during the war. Plus, with nothing to buy, most saved a huge percentage of their income via war bonds. So when the war was over, the demand for durable goods was there, and the savings were there to pay for it.

In none of our wars since then have we stopped production of consumer goods.
