The first time

How old were you when you took a plane all by yourself for the first time

Eighteen.

Probably around 28 to 30.

I was 10 years old, I’d fly down to Florida to spend summers with my dad. There was no such thing as chaperones, I’d have to figure it out for myself.

I don’t remember but most likely 21.

I am excluding military since we weren’t really alone

Age 17. It was a small plane[Cessna], took off in it but did not land in it.

I was 18 when I first took a flight by myself. However, my daughter was only five when she did. At the time she flew from New York City to visit her grandmother in Florida. That was when the major airlines allowed a child as young as five to fly by themselves if you paid the full adult fare for them. I would take her to the gate at JFK where a flight attendant would meet her and supervise her during the flight. Then when the flight landed in Florida that flight attendant would take her to my mother in law. When she came back from Florida she saw me at the gate, ran to me, hugged me, and said mommy I love you. The flight attendant who escorted her asked me to show ID to prove I was her mother and my then five year old daughter thought that was so funny. That was in 1982 but I would never do something like that today.

An adult on business. My first plane ride was in a corporate jet on a business trip.

Fondly remember that moment while sitting in the center seat of a 737

Had to laugh, same here. Within the next year I flew twice more, both on DC-3s (one Allegheny Air, one can’t remember).
