I think two things happened that year. The end of Packards and Buddy Holly died.
1956 was the last year that Packards were made in Detroit, but they were made by Studebaker for two more years. Buddy Holly died in 1959.
Unfortunately, PP’s playlist is indicative of music in 1956, Elvis had 6-7 #1 records and the Platters had one of the early doo-wop songs. Otherwise, meh.
Sorry, I stand corrected. there was some tragedy in 1956. Not sure if it was the two airliners colliding over the Grand Canyon.
