Songs that make me smile

Bought this album in the 70s sometime. One of many covers of this song, but really like this one. There are other very good ones, too. All give me a grin.

Not remotely his best song, but for some reason, I like this little catchy tune. I remember it from an LP we had in childhood.

I remember this being the first Billy Joel song that really liked.

At least a wistful smile from this one. Again, many covers but this one’s a barebones one from the composer, back in the day when Austin City Limits was still worth a watch and listen most weeks.

KC, knowing how much of a Mac McAnally fan you are is an indication of your appreciation for truly talented music artists.
Almost everybody has heard of Buffett, but not a lot of people know Mac, who is probably more talented.

You and KC are speaking my language!!

Excepting Rap and Hip Hop, there’s practically no music genre that I can’t find and appreciate decent talent within. That tolerance probably extends to areas other than music too, for instance racial and ethnic and even religious to a degree. (I used to be able to say that about political parties, aw that was so yesterday, though – that’s starting to sound like a song I admire, too.).

I actually like pre-2000’s rap, but everything after that is shit.
I will be-grudginling make the concession that, and my son has proven it, Kayne West has talent.

I have very eclectic taste in music and love classical music, show tunes, jazz, ballads, classic country music, and classic rock and roll.

Okay I’m a bit lost in the 70s. This one worth more than smile, it’s more of a wide grin number, perhaps a chuckle…

My funeral song.

Neil Diamond wrote the song “I’m A Believer” for the Monkees in 1966. So when Neil Diamond saw the movie Shrek in 2001 he was so happy that this song that he wrote was used in Shrek that he started to sing it as he left the movie theater. While he was singing it, he heard some teenagers behind him say “I can’t believe that old man knows the words to this song” :grinning:

Reminds me of the young people who would see Kristofferson in the Blade movies and say “Whistler sings?”
