I’m not clear in what all this means but it sounded like on on the radio that medical marijuana may become Medicare eligible.
Living in a state with lax medical weed, I think it is a terrible idea. I don’t know anyone that is legitimately using it for medical purposes. My Sister-in-law has an adult child with cerebral palsy that has seizures. Based on some online scientist, they took her off her seizure meds and switched to weed gummies. It has not helped and likely has made things worse. The “medical” use is completely self administered and self dosed. There is a “doctor” that signs off and you get a unlimited license for 2 years. You go to the dispensary and buy as much as your wallet will support. Compare this to the normal pharamcy where a doctor prescribes a quantity, dosage, and duration for drugs.
One of the main things it does is allow for actual research into the benefits and drawbacks of any medical uses.
Up until now, most “experts” on both sides have relied on anecdotal reports.
My niece used it illegally when she was undergoing treatment for breast cancer before medical marijuana was legalized in PA. i also know some people here that used it illegally, again for cancer treatments.
It means that marijuana can be dispensed by a pharmacy with a prescription signed by a medical doctor. Drug rules may also specify frequency of refills and other things. As such, it should be covered by Medicare part D and other drug plans, but the real question is how much where will those plans classify marijuana in their tiered pricing.
It was a Schedule 1 drug, which is dangerous and generally banned.
