Does anyone else get followed by obvious spam accounts?
Typically I am seeing pictures of beautiful women, and if I follow them back (which I only do if they appear to be real people), they start DM’ing me trying to start a conversation — at which point I block them.
Are these just fraudsters looking to befriend and steal? Anyone have more info here?
I’ve gotten fake friend requests on Fb, but they’ve been extremely occasional (probably less than 2 per year), and they are impersonating someone who is already a friend.
Didn’t know the fake beautiful women scam was on Fb too.
I’m not linked up with anyone I know on X. I use it mainly for occasional idle unproductive political bickering (much like here). Maybe the fake follows are due to my extremely low follower count. They must think I’m lonely & looking for love lol
I haven’t seen it that much recently, but I’ll often get a friend request from provocatively dressed women with limited profiles and entirely doofus-looking male friends. Some were obviously Russian bots. Those work differently on FB than X.
And if I ever comment on a musician’s page, I’ll get replies from fake profiles of that same musician and sometimes friend requests.
I have not commented on Mila Kunis’ page, and yet…
Sometimes names, other related things. Some of it happened around the 2016 election and some of it was pretty obvious and amateurish. It’s slightly more sophisticated now, but probably half my FB feed is AI.
Not on X but I often get followed and asked to be friends by obvious spam hot chicks, I just ignore them. I sometimes get friend requests on Facebook from real people from high school or friends of friends that I don’t really know, it’s kind of weird. I ran into one of them in real life and she wanted my number and to have a drink or coffee sometime, it was very awkward.
