Psychology says people who arrive twenty minutes early to everything aren’t

No, it’s called being in the army.

I was never in the army, however, I am always early to everything. Meeting someone at a coffee shop, I’m early. Catching an airplane, I’m early. The doctors appointment, I’m early, even though they are likely running so far behind they won’t get me for another half hour or more.

I just thought it was being considerate

I am generally the same way.

However, I’ve come to understand that people with three kids and a job are busy and may necessarily be late to things.

I can afford to be on time because I’m not insanely busy and overcommitted. Not everyone has that luxury.

I tend to arrive at the time expected, except work. I usually get there 15 minutes or so early just in case there’s traffic, on the rare occasion that I am late for work, it’s no big deal.

I always arrive early to appointments, the thought of being late brings out my GAD. If I’m way to early, I’ll sit in my car in the parking lot for a bit.

When I was a business owner I had many appointments with suppliers, job candidates etc.

I never liked it when someone arrived more than 10 minutes prior to a meeting, 15 at the most. It would interrupt my day and workflow, it wasn’t their time yet. But never be late and never last minute.

We are generally a little early because my wife thinks that if we’re on time, we’re late.

If I had to meet with a client, I would arrive, tell them “I’m a bit early but I have an appointment for 10:30 (or whatever time it was) and I’ll wait”. I never expected them to be interrupted. But back then I wore a suit, and in places like KC today, where the temps are in teh 90’s, I’d rather wait inside instead of in my car. But when you walk into an office building, there is usually a receptionist. I’d rather not make thejm feel uncomfortable either

However, I had one of our sales guys who wasn’t like me - if he had a 1:00 o’clock appointment across town, he’d leave at 12:45 and call on the way saying we’d be late because of traffic (as we were driving 70 mph down the freeway).
