Prevention? Heck no

Part of my Medicare Advantage plan has an “over the counter” benefit I can use for all kinds of things. We’ve had a string of stunning days and I’ve been wearing short sleeves on rides. And you always hear the medical community urging us to use sunscreen as skin cancer can be a killer. So I pop in to CVS to get some SPF 50. Pull out my “OTC” card and - it’s rejected because sunscreen is not approved. If I get skin cancer, they are happy to pay for the treatment…but any steps you take to prevent skin cancer comes out of your pocket.

That’s just one of the problems one gets with an ‘Advantage’ plan.

IT’s not just that…I tried my HSA card - it was also declined.
