Just in case anyone was under the belief I gained rationality as I aged
When I was single and dating my wife, we were by the pool at our apartment in Dallas in early April. One guy dove in. When he came up we asked how it felt. “Invigorating…and it stayed that way”
How cold was it?
It is 53 degrees here now. It felt like an ice bath
I don’t handle cold water well. I went to spa called cascada in Portland.
They have an ice plunge. I saw people hoping in like it was no big deal. It was maybe 40 degrees I discovered when I hoped in and almost lost my mind.
Cold plunges are supposedly good for recovery after a tough workout, I’m more of a sauna guy.
I don’t have a tub for an ice bath.
But I will turn my shower to cold and take a big cup with ice and fill it with water and dump it on myself a few times.
If I ever did that, I would definitely have to jump in.
And somebody would definitely have to dare me, or dangle money.
I’ve stuck my toe into my pool before in the winter (even in Texas), and said hell no not gonna happen.
I am afraid my heart would go into shock.
They do that to help some people with heart attacks.
By the way, was this for a cause? With the Knights, it’s for Special Olympics.
We have this in Jan/Feb in Maryland but I’ve always been too chicken
What gave you the impression that was a common belief?
Nope, just my nieces wanted to jump in and I couldn’t let them outdo me
Fair enough
