do you think online colleges affect the value of a college degree?
Depends on the collage. U of I Champaign offers a online MBA that is ranked very high, an online degree from Phoenix University, meh.
I’ve talked to people in HR and they definitely consider what college an applicant went to, a degree from Harvard or Northwestern is much better than one from Podunk college.

I’d want to see labor statistics to answer this question. Are firms and agencies hiring graduates of online programs without substantial discrimination between online and in-person degrees?
My guess is that they generally regard online degrees as equally valuable, as long as the school is not a notorious academic puppy mill.
For example, I got my “masters” at an online university that became infamous for accreditation issues. The Air Force didn’t care and was happy to recognize it when considering me for promotions, but I would not be too eager to brag on that one when seeking more prestigious employment.
I’d probably list it on the résumé, because a masters is better than no masters, but I wouldn’t be featuring the university name too prominently.
Seems a lot of jobs require a college degree, don’t think they really care where from as long as the box is checked. Doesn’t apply to highly specialized jobs.
