Old man but still got it

Went golfing the other day and kind of golfed like shit. But every once in a while I can still lean into one.

My GPS/rangefinder watch has a shot measuring function, not the best pic, but you can see my ball in the top and the 300 is how many yards I drove it.

Did you stay in your fairway?

Yes, but to be fair, I duffed the wedge and still got bogey.

Nicely done. I don’t tend to measure my drives, but I’m sure 300 has been a rarity, if ever.

In my 30’s I could hit 300-325 regularly.
Now I can touch it once or twice a year, usually either with a tail wind (like this pic), or in the winter when the ground is hard.
I did just go to a lesson with my wife (she didn’t want to go alone) and got a decent tip to help, and also got a new driver professionally fitted for me, which almost 100% cured my slice.

Sounds like you’ve known how to play for a long time. Ironically, in my 30s I was worse than I am now.

But in hindsight that’s because I did not do a good job of seeking out an instructor. I thought I could figure it all out myself and through YouTube help.

It took in-person lessons to teach me the real mechanics.

There is an old expression in golf. You drive for show and putt for dough.

I am a broke showman!!

I resemble that remark
