An overwhelming majority of Americans have zero chance of doing 50 pull ups in a week, let alone in 10 minutes.
True, but that doesn’t mean people shouldn’t try to improve their own health. I like to super set my workouts and lift to failure, it’s an efficient workout.
True, but the concept of body weight exercise for beginners is sound.
The future health of our kids ain’t looking good. Rather than cancel their vaccines and taking the dye of food, Parents of kids in junior high or below should be told to avoid buying their kids anything with a throttle on in. Kids on scooters or throttled ebikes that can go 20 mph are only exercising their thumbs. But they are freaking EVERYWHERE around here. I think kids under 16 now make a bigger market share of throtttled ebikes than adults over 70 (the ones they were designed for)
E bikes aren’t for exercise, they’re transportation to get from point A to B.
I believe KC’s point is, our kids used to either walk or ride a pedal bike, now they are losing even that exercise.
Where I live they still do ride bicycles and use kick scooters, although there are a few junior high kids that have high-speed e-bikes that look like moto-cross motorcycles.
I’m amazed how many people where I live, walk, run and ride to the stores, restaurants and shops near me. On a Saturday afternoon our tiny downtown will have a few dozen bikes parked outside the bars and restaurants and a lot of families bike to the ice cream place after dinner.
My daughter just got back from a short trip to Chicago.
She did say a lot more people there walk and run as compared to here.
You can live in certain parts of the city and never need a car, depending on where you work. A couple of my sons buddies live there and walk or take the L (electric train) everywhere and take the train back to 'burbs to visit their parents.
My suburban town is pedestrian friendly with multi use paths that safely get you around.
As long as they’re not significantly obese.
But they can always do wall pushups, assisted pull ups/dips, etc.
Have you ever seen videos of the DDP yoga?
I just clicked through this one. Never seen it before.
Not sure how representative this one is, but it looks like a bunch of reaching, stretching, and low resistance slow twitch stuff.
Obese people looking to trim down would be better off walking briskly, topped off with jogging or cycling as able.
Anything is better than nothing, getting started is the hard part. My kid looks super cut and his body fat is under 10%, he only does body weight exercises and climbs. I like dumbbells and workout pretty fast, usually 2 body parts in under 20 minutes.
He meets people where they are, and starts a program that they can handle, slowly increasing what they do.
You would never guess that a strip club bouncer, turned pro wrestler would do as much to help people as this guy, but what he does to help is actually amazing.
That’s what people should do, if a workout is too difficult they’ll quit and feel defeated.
I don’t have a gym membership. I wasn’t on any keto, paleo, low carb, starvation or any other kind of diet. My exercise was my bike, An e bike. The picture on the left is when I got that ebike. the picture on the right is one year later. I rode 3,700 miles that year. I guess that’s pretty good for just transportation. Since I retired in 2019 I have ridden 24,296 miles. I need 605 miles to have ridden around the earth at the equator. I should have that in about a month and a half.
I don’t know if I have flown that much!!
