Next site feedback issue: “solving” threads

Threads are closed if someone marks the “solved” button.

This feature seems designed for threads where people ask for help. Doesn’t seem appropriate for a forum in which 95% of the activity consists of bitching about politics.

Usually the checking of the box is accidental, as is clearly the case here:

I can turn the feature off. The reason I included it was if a conversation got shitty. Anyone could close it with the solved option.

I’m wondering how the others feel about it. Maybe others like it.

I figure the moderators you designated can close the threads in those cases of extreme incivility.

I think I’ve accidentally clicked on it on my phone, it’s close to the reply button.

I don’t think that feature was intended for this type of forum…its for more of a Stack Overflow style of forum where there can be an answer. This forum is open ended discussion…

It makes sense as a feature when the post is a question, but maybe only if the original poster could be the one to check that box.
