Need help on insurance claim

Wife hit a deer on 2019 F150. I didn’t think the damage is that bad but there is loads of plastic behind the grill.

Had it towed to a shop and they have a very detailed quote for $13,500. Insurance adjuster claim is $5,000. Sure there is stuff missing from the insurance quote but the biggest spread is this shop will only use new OEM ford parts while the insurance quote includes things like aftermarket headlight, salvage grill, etc. Insurance company says that if I use this shop I will likely be out of pocket for some of the difference.

I have progressive that is cut throat insurance (i know that). What is the normal process here? I have only filed one claim in my life against my own insurance company and I took the check and decided not to fix.

Most policies only cover non-oem parts unless none are available.

That’s pretty standard.

I never got the feeling Raspy was totally sure Harris would win or that he’d slit his wrists if she lost. But I get why the board is slowing down a bit, it’s a right wing circle jerk for sure.

Was your wife ok and did you get to keep the deer meat?

You might want to check into a public adjuster to help you with your claim. I’ve never used one on a vehicle claim, but have for my roof and gutters on my home. State Farm wanted to only replace the damaged shingles on a 20 year old roof, my adjuster cut thru the bullshit and got me a new roof, gutters and a few other things.

I also talked to my agent, he helped expedite things.

Look around. You’ve got Mac, KC, and Geeze on the left, myself and wmj in the middle and everybody else is hard right. It’s not hard to figure out what’s going on here. I still come because I enjoy it. If I don’t I’ll just disappear and I won’t make a grandiose post about the board or its members.
