This is going to be interesting, from what I heard it’s pretty wacky. The New York mob, X-Ray card tables, rigged card shuffling machines, etc.
This has apparently been an ongoing investigation for over 4 years.
I just saw a video of a pro gambler talking about this 2 years ago.
Chauncey Billups is the highest profile arrest I’ve seen so far. Key to at least one championship, though that would long predate the current issue.
What I mentioned earlier
Could someone please explain to me just what these perps were doing? I am completely ignorant about gambling.
Two separate issues.
One, the players and coaches were allegedly not scoring enough points and telling others to bet on the “under”, so the people that bet would win. One of these was so egregious that allegedly the gambling sites notified the NBA and the player was shadow suspended, trying to sweep it under the rugs
Two, a coach was running an underground high stake poker game and was rigging with sophisticated means. This was allegedly being bankrolled by the Mafia.
