My insurance company is surprising me

I have had USAA insurance on my home for several years and switch a couple of years ago because the competitors rate was much better. Never had any claims with the new company but when it was up for renewal last year my premium doubled. USAA reached out and I got a quote, which was considerably lower, so I switched back. the month it took effect, a branch from my oak tree fell on on my house, doing $68,000 worth of damage.

USAA didn’t bat an eye in fixing it. In fact, when the contractors told them that if they refinish the floor in the bedroom that suffered the bulk of the damage, that room would not match the rest of the house. So USAA approved them refinishing all of my hardwoods (entire house, except for the den). So I was pleasantly surprised. But I just got my notification of my renewal , that I expected to double, but to my shock, my premium actually went DOWN by about $100. I was planning on renewing anyhow, based on how they handled my claim - even if it doubled. I had read things on next door of others in my area who suffered storm damage and their insurance was being rather difficult. My repair experience was seamless.

So I’m pretty sold on USAA insurance. Now…if they could just fix their #$%) automated phone attendant when you actually need to talk to an agent.

I may consider them, but TBH, I am pretty happy with my local agent right now.
