Mind Games

What games do you like to play to exercise your mind

I do the NYT ones: Wordle, Connections, Strands, Mini.

Also, Sudoku, Drop7, 2024.

Most of these, outside Connections, aren’t all that hard. Brain exercise maybe, but not too strenuous. I can do while I watch tv.

I play a lot of cribbage and euchre online.

My wife and I finally found a game we both like and are playing it pretty regular. Skip Bo.

Watching Jeopardy and trying to guess the correct answer before a contestant does.

GF was on Jeopardy several years ago.

I tried out for the college student version and didn’t come close.

I think we have discussed how you outkicked your coverage.

Yup. She’s a keeper.

Speaking of which, not quite National Merit, but my proud parenting moment recently was learning my kid outscored me on the SAT. 1370.

Wordle, Connections and Keyword (on WAPO)

I like to watch Jeopardy Wheel of Fortune while I exercise.

I also listen to a lot of history and historical fiction books while driving so I can continue to fill my head with worthless knowledge.

mcarley recommended Manhunt by James Swanson to me. It covers the days before John Wilkes Booth assassinated Lincoln an his later death. I knew some of the bits and pieces but this covers it all and very well. It’s one of those good books that covers a historical topic, but tells the story like a good work of fiction (even if you know the ending). I also recommend On Desperate ground by Hampton Sides, about the battle of Chosin Reservoir in the early days of the Korean War. Also, any book by Erik Larson.

We need a book section around here.

GF is a historian. She also loaned me In the Heart of the Sea, about the Essex, which inspired Moby Dick.

You really did hit the lottery!
