Microsoft Teams Will Soon Tell Your Boss When You're Not in the Office

I don’t see this as a big deal unless someone is lying to their boss about where they’re working from. My son can work remotely a couple dozen times a year for any reason, he just has to let his boss know. Yesterday his whole company got a free remote work day because of the weather in Wisconsin..

I set an email reminder to people whether I am in the office or remote.
I don’t like working remote very often.

When I was working I could get more done in 2 hours at home than I could in 8 at the office.

I am just as productive at home, but I enjoy the social interaction (me an a coworker are talking in Irish accents today), and I hate not having 3 screens and an external keyboard.

I’ve seen that too often in companies.

If that was the case there was a structural management problem above your pay grade.

My son said the same thing about working at home, he likes using multiple screens and the cafeteria at work is really good for a work cafeteria. My kid has an office but meets with people on his team for lunch or they’ll book an interesting conference room to discuss a project. His commute is 15 minutes from pulling out of his garage to sitting at his desk.

One of the great things about working remote during the pandemic was being able to work out at lunch and not care that I was sweaty and stinky at my kitchen table in the afternoon.

It was more about being interrupted. And meetings. Most of them unnecessary.
