Messenger chat pin

Prior to my most recent update, messenger chats appeared on both my iphone and my MacBook. Since my last update, however, I get a notice on my MacBook to enter my pin number to update my messenger chats.

Yet, I never had a pin for messenger. Does anyone else have the same situation?

I had something similar, but only requested once. Seems like something they implemented if you use multiple devices.
