Medical Courtesy

Is anyone else old enough to remember medical courtesy. It was at a time when people thought that it was not advisable for a doctor to treat his own family so another doctor would treat a doctor’s wife and children without charging them a fee for doing so.

Sounds about right. Also helps with conflict of interest as well as avoiding the appearance of phony prescriptions. In pop culture, it was a thing on Frasier

Part of the problem is 60% of medical practice are owned by corporations, not physicians. They frown on professional discounts.

In the dental field, specialists I refer to still treat my wife and I for free or substantial discount.
