Main Cruise

I have a green light indicator “main cruise” on my dashboard. Does anyone know what it means. When I googled main cruise it said it means a malfunction in the cruise control system but I haven’t used cruise control in years.

I plan to bring it to the Acura dealer to check it out but there is no problem with the way it drives now and as long as I don’t use cruise control do you think it will be safe for me to drive it untill I take it to the dealer

I don’t know if this is just a coincidence but I had the bushings for the lower control arm of my Acura replaced last week

I thought you were going on a cruise starting in Maine.

It could mean, in some cars, that you have turned the cruise control on, but not set a cruise speed. If you know how to toggle it off, try that, see if the light goes away.

Is the indicator red or yellow in color? If red STOP the vehicle if YELLOW just drive it.

She said green in the OP.

wow glad it wasn’t a snake.

Green means go.

From AI google summary:

The main cruise light on an Acura, often labeled “CRUISE MAIN” or as a “CRUISE CONTROL” indicator, signifies that the cruise control system is activated and ready to set a speed. To actually set your desired speed, you must press the SET/Accel button on the steering wheel after reaching that speed. The light being on indicates the system is powered on, but doesn’t mean it’s actively maintaining a speed until you “set” it.

If you haven’t used cruise control in years, my guess is that you accidentally turned the system on.

AI Overview
What does this button do?

In most Acura models, the cruise control button is a cluster of switches on the right side of the steering wheel, labeled with icons like “MAIN,” “RES/ACCEL,” “DECEL/SET,” and a car with distance bars. To activate, press the “MAIN” or “ACC” button to turn the system on, then accelerate to your desired speed and press “SET” to engage. You can adjust the speed with the “RES/ACCEL” or “DECEL/SET” switches and the following distance with the car/bars button.

Thanks everyone for the helpful responses that I probably accidentally pushed the cruise button on my steering wheel was right because when I pushed it again the cruise main green light went off. Thanks again :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

When my husband was
alive we actually took a fall foliage cruise from New York to Canada that stopped in Bar Harbor Maine. This is a photo I took of Acadia National Park while our ship was in Maine
