problem is it is based on old toyotas. New stuff is crap. The Tundra has been recalled for bad engines since day one
There are 6 Mazda’s in my family and all any of them have ever needed was regular scheduled maintenance. Mazda also avoided one popular trend in cars - the CVT transmission. Those have proven to be more problematic than regular transmissions.
My Camry lasted 15.5 years, could likely have gone much further.
On the truck front… All of these on the list are exempted from the cafe standards except Tundra, Ridgeline, and Tacoma. All these 3/4 and larger trucks are just built more durable than the smaller half tons that are going with the tiny turbo engines.

In Toyota’s defense, the engines are garbage all across the industry. They’re putting these crap subsystems on them allegedly for environmental reasons, but all it seems to be doing is guaranteeing business for service departments and shops.
