In all fairness I do it because I have a bad knee.
I had one guy try to start a fight over it. It was weird.
Retired pilot here. Everyone is required to stay in their seat until the Capt has parked at the gate and turned off the seatbelt sign. No excuses.
If I’m still taxiing (plane moving) and a Flight attendant tells me someone has stood up in the aisle I’m required to stop the plane and make an announcement that the plane will not move until everyone is back in their seat. Of course that delays the parking at the gate and everyone will be giving you the stink eye.
I don’t stand till we are parked and they give the ding letting us know we can get up.
Even then, it’s kinda pointless a lot of the time if you’re just gonna be standing and waiting behind a bunch of people.
It takes the pressure off my knee.
What I don’t do is rush in front of everyone like an asshole
