If these are the choices, I'd offer one more

And that would be “None of the Above”

The options:

Armada, Presidents, Brigade, Red Hogs, Commanders, Red Wolves, Defenders and the Washington Football Team.

I’m not impressed with any of them

The Washington Senators is currently unused. That would mean, however, that no one one would like the team.

Do you know if there are any trademark issues with that name?

Don’t know for certain. The last Senators’ team moved and became the Texas Rangers in 1971. I don’t know if the name was sold with the team or considered abandoned.

“Solons”? That kinda shows my age, but I can remember when senators were frequently referred to as “Solons” on the radio and in the press.

A term heard years ago but so much now…

What does it mean to Red Dog?

verb (used with object), red-dogged, red-dog·ging. to charge directly for (the passer) as soon as the ball is snapped. … to red-dog the passer.

Washington Red Dogs

Bumping this up in advance of the announcement tomorrow. If you believe some articles, the name “Commanders” has been selected. That is all conjecture, though.

I know I am in the minority here, but I kind of like the current name.

Whatever they select, they can not do any worse than when the Washington Bullets changed their name to the Wizards.
