I would also mention it is fairly disturbing how many food products have added caffeine in them, namely candy and soda. There really isn’t any reason for this other than promoting addiction.
I’m sure most people know the origins of the brand name Coca-Cola (for those that don’t, the “coca” part is for cocaine, a previous ingredient).
They found a replacement that is also addictive, but legal and even accepted due to the widespread belief that the chemical is harmless (and some even incorrectly believe it has health benefits).
Most people in the modern western world have some degree of caffeine addiction, and they would be better off without it. The problem is, the withdrawal process is difficult for a solid week or two for almost everybody who tries to quit. Most people give up or never try.
