Musk literally gave Ukraine access to access to StarLink for free in order for them to even have the opportunity to defend themselves against Russia. It is not hyperbole to say that Ukraine would currently be in the hands of Putin had it not been for Musk.
Additionally, Musk has stated that he did not want his tech to be used in a offensive military way, he has made no “secret” of that.

This falls under the “no good deed goes unpunished” category.
Why would Musk care if Ukraine goes on the offensive? That’s how you defend yourself, you make it painful for Russia and make them realize it’s not worth it.
