Help me make a decision

Years ago had an HVAC guy show up, diagnosed the problem but did not have the part. He told me where I could go to buy the part the next day, guided me on how to fix it, and charged me the $75 diagnostic fee. Bought it the next morning and replaced it myself, but without him giving me a couple of hints, it could have cost me a lot more.

Good to have refrigerator thermometer to see what the temperature is. This is from Amazon.

You could also get these from a Walmart or a Target.

I have a thermometer obsession. I have digital one that transmit it a receiver on the front of the fridge

Why do most of the meat thermometers suck? Do I really need to spend $50+ for a decent one?

I didn’t know they did. What are the issues?

Cheaply made. I think mine was 40 but it has WiFi as well

We got one on Amazon, $9-10. It is electronic and uses a button battery. A larger non-electronic one was about the same price. It seems to be accurate, but then we use it less because we eat much less meat than we used to.

I’ve got the ThermoPop 2 and it works pretty well. picked them up on sale, I think it was buy one get one free.

Ah, y’all are talking about modern impressive technified meat thermometers.

I’m a simple man. I pull it off the grill and poke it with the handheld analog probe

Half the time, they hardly register. Not very accurate.

I’m getting a new one fox Xmas (shh….don’t tell me), so we’ll see how that goes.

As far as grilling, I am pretty good at temping by feel.

I need a thermometer for smoking, or I sometimes think it may be farther along that it is.

I did a pork tenderloin in the oven last night, which is a rare occurrence. Definitely needed it for that, and infuriatingly it took much longer than the damn package said it would, even with a lengthwise split.

IMO the best bang for your buck when it comes to meat, marinated and best done on the grill to 145.

Maybe my low-tech thermometer sucks like mcarley was saying, but after probing 145 and resting 5+ minutes, it was still bleeding pink juice.

We generally do our pork medium-well at the very least. Only looking for pink when we have steak.

this one doesn’t It matches my instant one and shows ambient temp so you know the smoker is holding temp The app is awesome

Amazon.com: CHEF iQ Sense [2025 Model] | Smart Wireless Meat Thermometer | 2 Ultra-Thin Probes | WiFi Unlimited Range | 1000°F Heat Safe | 5 Sensors | BBQ, Grill, Oven, Smoker, Air Fryer | Gen3: Home & Kitchen

For $110 it should cook as well.

…or for only 258 dollars you can get this.

But you’re saving $206.70!

sorry you asked for a good one. If they have any in Costco they are a bit less. Actually the app does help you cook. you tell i t what you are cooking and it walks you through each step and when to take out and how long to rest

Probably because people aren’t willing to spend enough for a good one!
