Have You Renewed Your Medicare Plan Yet?

It ain’t what it was last year!

We’re going with the same plans as last year. United Health Supplemental (had this since age 65) and Wellcare Value Script for part D (3rd year for that, zero premium and zero cost for most of our Rx at Costco).

I’ve got another year before I need to look into Medicare.

I am interested in how you are using Costco.

I have a Humana advantage plan but because of the incessant marketing calls, emails and texts, that I told them to stop but they just kept coming, I am thinking of changing. I got more calls from Humana marketing than I got from my family.

Have you considered original Medicare with a Medicare Supplement plan. It may not cover some minor things that a Medicare Advantage plan will but it will give you much better coverage if you are very.sick or need a super specialist

The new rules limiting out of pocket costs and deductibles have shaken up the plans. I don’t know how our plan survived until next year, but we are happy it did (but it is different in other states). These things change every year, so be prepared to do your homework and know that the expensive plans may offer no better benefits than the cheapest plans.

I’m aware of the potential issues with an Advantage plan and I am okay with them. I don’t have a spouse, so I’m not sure if that my shade my view, but I’m okay with the risks

Absolutely. And it probably costs more.

I am getting sick and tired of all the ads and calls and emails about so-called “advantage” plans that are neither Medicare nor an advantage. They are insurance company plans and they make big bucks, a large component of which I think is regulating who you can see for what. The first gate keeper (Medicare) is enough; I don’t need some insurance company on top of that.

Therefore, it is original plan B, and we are fortunate to have zero premium wellcare plan D going on the third year. They too want to sell me an HMO and there is no way.
