Has anybody heard from PricePerformer?

Just suggesting.

I was thinking of how Britain leased Hong Kong for 99 years.

It actually reminded me of the Disney land contract that will last until the last British monarch or something like that (I don’t remember the details).

It’s a weird legal thing and nobody has been able to answer why. 99 years is common

I had the same thought too after I replied.

My buddies grandpa built a cabin on an Indian reservation near Minocqua Wisconsin in the late 1950’s that has a 99 year lease on the land. From what I remember at the end of the lease they can renew it or tell him to get the hell off.

We’re all guilty of this to varying degrees, but PP was especially notorious for complaining about things he couldn’t control, and being dramatic about it to boot.

At the end of the day, you are doing your digital hobby (“discussing” politics, to put it kindly) at the pleasure of the person furnishing the platform. You can’t piss in someone else’s front yard and then accuse them of being an ungracious host.

That’s why I find it so amusing watching Sgt Geez spit vitriol (like the angry old man that he is) towards Winter. Winter’s a big boy with a thick skin, so hopefully Geez appreciates the berth he is given.

If I’m criticizing them, I’m criticizing myself too, bc that’s what got me banned from CHMB. But that’s fine. Not a good fit. I wasn’t going to be polite to people acting like mindless little msm-addicted zombies.

This is much better. Thick skins allow for more honest discussions, even if they’re no more accurate.

I think it may relate to old laws or practices that held more had to be a purchase. It’s much more common in England, whose property laws were the basis of ours. As for Indian lands, that can vary by tribe and I suspect they would rather lease than sell.

As for the event timing that parrot mentioned in the Disney/Florida fiasco, that may relate to the rule against perpetuities, which is a property law class unto itself.

There is a difference. Wintermute has pretty much said that he is allowing most everything as long as we don’t take it too far. What Geezer says to Wintermute is no worse than what some others have said here, and Wintermute recognizes his standards apply to not-so-kind posts about him too. Geezer has never complained about how the board is run or demanded things be done differently, at least from what I have seen.

That is the big difference.

I had a friend who was a partner at a law firm and did real estate. That is similar to the answer he gave. He said it is an old tradition to show it was a rent and not something else. He didn’t know how or why the 99 years was determined.

I always found it odd that many times I would see 99 pop up for certain transactions. Some thing appear to be a holdover of history.

I am also not a hypocrite. I believe in mostly free speech. I feel society will censor you naturally and as such let things just work out.

There are limits, but getting nasty with me won’t trigger it. At most, I will delete the message if it’s overly offensive and I would do the same for any one else.

I have seen people say some fairly nasty things but normally the person will delete it after a few minutes. People tend to feel better once they say it and then realize they’re just being sensitive.

I appreciate Geez contributing even when he’s just throwing darts in my direction. It is interesting to see what a communist thinks about things. I don’t know many in my persona life and it is rare treat to see a commie in action.

I always have to remind myself that most communists have never seen communism in action. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be communists.

Lol it is nice to see it go in both directions.

Agreed for the most part. Their banter does seem mostly playful in any case.

I don’t recall PP getting more dramatic than anybody else on this board, and obviously most here are receptive to his views. On the other hand, I can see how a break off all boards can lend a fresh perspective to how important these ‘HOT TAKES’ are. Either way, I do hope he’s alive and well.

Here, no. On the CHB, he definitely got dramatic while complaining a lot.

Maybe, but I"ll give him a pass given his age.

I like to think that we ought to be getting wiser and less temperamental as we get older. That’s for our own sake above all, and our families’ as a close second.

I hope he is doing well also and is enjoying life more if he’s not spinning his top about fleeting politics and tabloidesque media messaging.

I had to go through that process myself. The old me would be bitching about Joe Biden every damn day, blaming him for all of the country’s problems, etc. Now I just roll my eyes & chuckle.

I plan on doing the same when Trump gets re-elected next year. He will make lots of unforced errors, and things will be silly, and life goes on.

I think we’ve all got better things to do with our limited time on this earth than parrot political-media narratives that exist for the sole purpose of brainwashing the masses.

I think it used to be that way but lets face it, once you hit 70 we may not be motivated to do anything else but watch tv. Watch the wrong tv and it’s easy to be convinced that the current president is changing America as we know it.

This is totally anecdotal and not the final word on this, but I know a few older angry conservatives and no older angry liberals. It seemed to start with Fox and Obama and obviously continues today. MSNBC exists but the angry liberals I know are younger, the older liberals I know have a live and let live mentality.

I sure hope not. There are lots of great things that most 70-yr-olds can do.

Facebook sharing with family/friends, reading (books & respectable publications, not fake news trash), self-improvement & project/skill learning via YouTube, golf, bowling, board games, cooking, arts/crafts, playing cards, gardening, etc.

A lot of the traditional activities can be done online, even with strangers. Video games are largely plugged into the internet as well now.

Nobody should spend any portion of their lives addicted to outrage porn masquerading as information. That is a prison to escape from, not a retirement to look forward to.

I know a couple of older liberals on this very forum that falsify your paradigm, my friend.

I don’t count forum members as people I know, no offense to anybody.

Lol ok but they still exist. There are senior liberal citizens who get angry, or at least noticeably worked up, over politics.
