do you prefer a gas Electric or hybrid car to drive?
I like my electric. Easy, less expensive, simpler than hybrid where I’d have to maintain both systems. Only limitation is longer trips. Can take longer.
gas is best, hybrid second. never electric
Electric. Far superior to a gasoline car.
except for road trips
I am in the hybrid camp at this point and wish I had bought one years earlier. First was a 2020 Avalon. In 5 years of usage the only serious issue was the little battery which did konch out. You can have a full big battery but the little 12v is required to start it. Mileage high 30s.
Then we saw the Crown Signia and traded. Sits a little higher than the sedan and gets over 40 mpg! Put back seats down and it holds a lot of stuff.
I have only ever had gas, but my next will almost surely be hybrid
Far superior. I have zero complaints. Also it’s much cheaper then gas.
expect for stopping to charge which takes alot of time
Agreed that long trips can be a pain. A 4 hour drive might take 5.
But 95% of my driving is local. Well worth it.
30 minutes. That isn’t that big of deal. Wash your hands. Eat lunch. Wash your hands. You’re good to go.
Wife & I have one gas and one BEV. We use the BEV 90% of the time and charge at home. We get 25 mpg on the gas car and 4.5 cents a mile on the BEV. Range on the BEV is 225 miles.
BEV is a lot more fun to drive.
I don’t have a problem with any of them, but I like my hybrid and would consider electric when the cost and range make sense.
Every trip I take its 5 minutes and there are more gas stations than charging stations. What happens if there is a line? I won’t ever have an electric.
In my household, involving two drivers and two cars, I’d like one hybrid and one EV.
Hybrid for long trips. The charging station infrastructure is still not adequate for long trips to non-yuppie places.
That’s my eventual vision. Currently have two ICE vehicles that are paid off and new enough that they don’t need to be replaced any time soon.
As much as I’d love to get a Tesla, it makes zero financial sense in my present circumstances.
My hybrid is now 11 years old, with 12 coming up year end.. I’ve had zero issues with the hybrid system and will likely get another one when this one goes to auto heaven. I’ve experienced 15-30% mileage improvement over the same car with only the same gas engine.
Never had a line. Never had an issue charging and getting back on the road again.
The only time I’ve had an issue is winter where I had to change more frequently but now I don’t live in those states.
I’ve had plenty of annoying charging situations with rental EVs. Depends on where you are and what specific vehicle you’re driving.
Some areas of the country are well equipped. Others are a long way off from prime time.
I’ve also found that with EVs, there is Tesla and there is everybody else.
Tesla has its act together on the charging game, etc. Everybody else is extremely hit or miss.
Buy what you want. I personally prefer older ICE cars that I can DIY repair. The more complexity to the vehicle the more likely you are going to end up with a very costly repair.
There’s one place in Bakersfield, right across from Costco, that occasionally has a line, but the wait is never more than a few minutes. There are pretty much always chargers available.
