He died a couple of days ago. One of his best known songs was Palisades Park, written by the late Chuck Barris[of the Gong Show fame.]
I did not see that sad news. I never went to Palisades Park, though I heard it was a swingin’ place. Never went to Talahassee to see that lassie either. The memories run deep.
I didn’t see the news either. Yesterday was listening to someone who does an oldies show out of Marshfield, Massachusetts. Was listening on - line and he mentioned the death.
If you are interested in the future, the DJ [Ron Dwyer]is very knowledgeable. He is on Saturdays from 1pm to 7pm and on Sundays from 1pm to 5pm. Both days are Eastern time.Ron is a walking encyclopedia.
my parents had friends who owned Palisades Park and these friendsl gave tickets to their park to my sister to their park for a birthday party which I attended. I’ve always loved the song Palisades Park and remember Freddie Cannon very well.
Sometimes I listen to 60s Gold in SXM, particularly the Pat St. John Show. He, too, just rattles off info about that era. I don’t know how old he is, but I remember him from his WKNR (Detroit) and CKLW (Windsor) shows in the late 60s-early 70s. Yikes.
