I have read several stories where the headline is something like “GOP costing $4.5 trillion in tax cuts”.
The reality it the proposal is to continue the current tax rates, not cut any taxes.
And it is literally impossible to accurately determine how much money would come in based solely on tax rates.
When the left is speaking, any decrease in what was planned or expected is called a cut.
Same nonsense been going on for over a decade and probably longer.
Plus these dumbass media hit pieces are counting on the citizenry to be too stupid and uninformed to understand that runaway deficit spending is the much bigger threat, not a (possible) decrease in tax revenue.
None of these political rags seem the slightest bit interested in the fact that billions of dollars in fraud and money laundering have been discovered vis-a-vis USAID, and that there is likely more of the same all across the federal government.
We should definitely continue the TCJA income and estate tax rates. Since 2017 when the law passed, revenue to the Treasury is up from 3.3T to 4.9T, an increase of 50%. I would not be a fan of lowering the rates any further a this point…
