Don't Lower Your Tire Pressure to Gain Traction in the Snow

Interesting. I’ve heard to do that before but I don’t do it.

The Tesla requires very high tire pressure.

Have always heard that in snow, lower pressure helped with the old bias ply tires. It doesn’t help and probably reduces traction to lower pressure with radial tires.

Most of the cars I have owned were rear wheel drive. Used to place some bags of sand in the trunk to help with traction in the snow. Sand could also be used to place under the tires if stuck on snow /ice.

Oh I may be showing my age.

That does make sense.
