Is there any disadvantage to seeing a family doctor once your kid is 13/14/15? Are there any advantages? I feel good in my decision to see a family doc as opposed to a child doctor but I was wondering if I was missing something.
We switched ours over at 12/13.
We really liked our pediatrician but her office staff organization was horrible.
We also really like our family Dr and have no regrets.
My daughter hates the fact that she will eventually have to find another DR.

Thanks Parrot. Yes agreed. We’re also more in the phase of wanting to focus more on preventative care (such as blood tests) so I also think it’s the right decision. We’re going to get the meningitis vaccine next year and might consider the HPV depending on his likely lifestyle choices which could be very different from my or my wife’s choices
His last pediatricians were too pushy and I think he appreciates the autonomy of going to an all age doc rather then one who specializes in a certain age group. I guess people have different preferences
